Field notes

Hotter and stickier than Tokyo in summer — Kyoto sits in a basin without sea breeze, and Jul–Aug regularly hits 33–35°C with high humidity. Winters are colder than Tokyo (Jan around 4°C, occasional snow). Cherry blossoms (late March–early April) and autumn foliage (mid-Nov) are the obvious draws.
