The operating system for the location-independent worker

Nomada is a hybrid Build-vs-Curate platform for digital nomads. Native tools for the simple, structured stuff. Curated, editorial directories for the complex services we’d never out-execute. One home base, one tab.

Why we exist

The nomad stack is a mess. Information lives in Reddit threads, Telegram groups, expat forums, paid Notion templates, and pay-to-play directories. Visa rules change quietly, cost-of-living guides rot, and most “best of” lists are sorted by commission.

Nomada is the inverse of that: a single place where the math you need to make decisions (timezone overlap, visa days, cost of living, FIRE projections, climate, taxes) is calculated honestly in your browser, and the services you actually pay for (insurance, banking, eSIM, accommodations) are ranked editorially — never sorted by commission.

The doctrine

Before adding anything, we classify it:

  • Build — simple data, weekly use, ranks for long-tail SEO. Things where the calculation IS the value (timezone overlap, Schengen 90/180, cost of living, FIRE math).
  • Curate — requires licensing, fulfillment, hardware, or 50+ engineers. Things we’d never out-execute (flights, insurance, banking, accommodations). Listed with honest comparison content, monetized via affiliate.

We don’t propose building competitors to Skyscanner or SafetyWing. We don’t propose curating something we could ship in a sprint. The discipline matters — it’s what keeps the tools fast and the directory honest.

How we make money

Affiliate links on the directory pages, plus advertising and a future newsletter sponsorship layer. No paid subscriptions, no user accounts, no paywalls. The math is free; the directory is free; the country guides are free.

Affiliate disclosure: when you click through to a partner from a directory page and book or subscribe, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The full disclosure is at /affiliate-disclosure. We rank by user value, never by commission.

Editorial principles

  • Confidence over hedging. No “coming soon”, no “in beta”. If a feature ships, it’s ready.
  • Specificity over generic.“Vibrant cosmopolitan city” is banned copy. Real neighborhoods, real visa programs, real numbers.
  • Honest about uncertainty. Visa rules change. Cost-of-living estimates are estimates. We say so.
  • Never legal/financial advice. Every visa note, tax estimate, and FIRE calculation is editorial. Use a real professional before booking flights.
