Field notes

Western Honshu coastal city — the Peace Memorial Park and the A-Bomb Dome are the iconic anchors. Hondōri (the central shopping arcade) and Naka-ku (the residential core) are the typical nomad neighborhoods. Same Japan DNV. The structural draws are the genuinely deep cultural-historical layer (the Peace Park is one of the most significant 20th-century memorial sites globally), Miyajima island offshore (the Itsukushima floating torii is UNESCO-listed), Setouchi Sea proximity (the Shimanami Kaidō cycling route across 6 islands starts nearby), and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki — a regional variant of the savory pancake distinct from the Osaka style.

Humid subtropical (Western Honshu) — similar pattern to Fukuoka but slightly cooler. Summer (June–August, 23–28°C average) is hot humid; the rainy season (June) is structural. Winter (December–February, 5–7°C average) is mild and dry by Japanese standards. Spring and autumn are the cleanest working windows. Setouchi inland-sea geography moderates extremes.
