Field notes
Smaller, quieter Gulf-of-Thailand island just north of Ko Samui — population around 17,000 outside Full Moon Party season. Sri Thanu and Hin Kong (the western coast) are the surf-and-yoga long-stay zones; Haad Rin (the southeastern point) is the party-tourism strip. Same Thai DTV. The structural draws are deep yoga-and-wellness infrastructure (the island has more Vinyasa studios per capita than almost anywhere on the planet), surf-friendly western coast in the dry season, and the genuinely unique combination of long-term wellness expat scene with periodic Full Moon Party tourism.
Tropical maritime (Gulf of Thailand) — same Gulf monsoon pattern as Samui (wet season offset from mainland Thailand into October–November). Dry first-half of the year is the postcard working window. Sea-water temperatures stay swimmable year-round (27–29°C). Humidity stays above 75% year-round.
