Field notes
Cappadocia village in central Anatolia, surrounded by fairy-chimney rock formations carved into the volcanic-tuff landscape over millions of years. The town itself is small (population ~2,000) — most accommodations are cave hotels carved directly into the rock. Hot-air-balloon flights at sunrise are the iconic experience. Türkiye has no formal DNV; eVisa and Kart-İkamet (residence permit) are the standard routes. The structural draws are the genuinely-unique landscape, very cheap pricing, and underground-city day-trips (Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı).

Editorial estimates. Not financial advice. The 4% rule is a planning anchor, not a guarantee — sequence-of-returns risk and tax-jurisdiction friction (US-LLC / FEIE / state residency) can move the real number meaningfully. See our expat tax directory for the cross-border side of the math.
