Hurghada is Egypt's Red Sea hub — 300+ days of sun, world-class diving in Giftun Marine Park, and apartment rents that haven't caught up to the tourist economy. El Gouna 20 minutes up the coast is the higher-end alternative; downtown Hurghada and the El Mamsha promenade are where actual nomads cluster, with Sahl Hasheesh as the resort-corridor compromise. Egyptian Vodafone and Orange both run solid 4G; fiber works in most modern apartment blocks. The 30-day eVisa (USD 25, processed in 7 days) is the standard entry; in-country extensions to 60 days are routine. Skip July-August unless you tolerate 40°C+ — even diving boats slow down.

Editorial estimates. Not financial advice. The 4% rule is a planning anchor, not a guarantee — sequence-of-returns risk and tax-jurisdiction friction (US-LLC / FEIE / state residency) can move the real number meaningfully. See our expat tax directory for the cross-border side of the math.
