Zambia's capital at 1,279m elevation on a plateau in south-central Africa — English is official, and the high altitude moderates the tropical latitude (year-round 15-25°C). Cairo Road is the colonial commercial axis; Kabulonga and Ibex Hill are the expat residential anchors. Zambia has no DNV; tourist visa (e-Visa or KAZA UniVisa with Zimbabwe) up to 90 days applies. The structural draws are temperate-tropical high-altitude climate, English-speaking environment, and proximity to Victoria Falls (6h drive south, or 1h flight). Internet is functional but not fast; coworking density is thin (Bongohive and a few others).

Editorial estimates. Not financial advice. The 4% rule is a planning anchor, not a guarantee — sequence-of-returns risk and tax-jurisdiction friction (US-LLC / FEIE / state residency) can move the real number meaningfully. See our expat tax directory for the cross-border side of the math.
