San Pancho (officially San Francisco) is 15 minutes north of Sayulita on the Nayarit Riviera — same Pacific coast, dramatically quieter vibe. No clubs, no spring-breakers, no Tulum-style price inflation; instead, a single tree-lined main street with a polo field, surfboard rentals, and a long uncrowded beach. EntreAmigos community center is the social anchor; coworking is light (mostly cafe-based). Internet (Telmex fiber) works in most modern villas — verify before committing. PVR (Puerto Vallarta) airport is 1 hour south. Visa rules are the same Mexican FMM up-to-180-days story.
Pathway
Long visa-free
Program
Mexico FMM Tourist Permit
Typical max stay
6 months
Mexico grants up to 180 days on the FMM tourist form for most western passports. Recently immigration officers have been issuing shorter stamps at some entry points — not predictable. The Mexico Temporary Resident visa is the longer-term option (USD 2,600+/mo income proof or USD 43k+ savings).

Editorial estimates. Not financial advice. The 4% rule is a planning anchor, not a guarantee — sequence-of-returns risk and tax-jurisdiction friction (US-LLC / FEIE / state residency) can move the real number meaningfully. See our expat tax directory for the cross-border side of the math.
