Cities with the Cleanest Air for Digital Nomads

40 cities · Updated May 2026

Air quality is one of those signals nomads overlook until they shouldn't. SE Asia's burning seasons (Chiang Mai, Hanoi in March–April) hit AQI 200+. Delhi and Beijing routinely cross 300. Even Bangkok's annual average is uncomfortable for sensitive respiratory systems. This list flags cities where the typical AQI sits under 50 — clean by any reasonable threshold. Mostly Pacific Northwest, Northern Europe, Oceania, the higher-altitude Latin American cities. If you run, have asthma, or just don't want to think about masks, start here.
