Summer is when the high-latitude bases come alive — Northern Europe, the Pacific Northwest, the UK and Ireland, the Baltic capitals. The Mediterranean gets too hot for sustained work in many southern cities (Madrid, Sevilla, Athens are punishing in July–August), so this list intentionally tilts north. The southern-hemisphere reverse-season picks (Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Sydney's mid-winter) round it out.
