Best FEIE-Friendly Cities for US Digital Nomads
30 cities · Updated May 2026
The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion is the single biggest tax lever US nomads have — exclude up to ~$130K of foreign-earned income from federal tax if you pass the physical-presence or bona-fide-residence tests. But FEIE works cleanest in countries where the local tax structure doesn't fight you: territorial-basis countries (no local tax on foreign income), countries with US tax treaties (clean credit/exemption claims), and countries where local tax bills don't exceed what FEIE excludes. This list flags every city in our dataset where the parent country meets the editorial-confirmed FEIE-compatible bar. Confirm with a US-licensed cross-border CPA before structuring.
